Like many distributed teams, we live in Slack, and we built Smallchat to bring support conversations with website visitors into Slack as well. Each conversation creates a thread in your support channel, so conversations are searchable, anyone on your team can join in, and you don't have to add another app to your home screen.
Our goal for Smallchat's brand is simple: Create a product that feels friendly and easy. We want visitors to immediately understand the value of Smallchat and begin to visualize how it could fit into their business. We carry this thinking through every aspect of Smallchat, creating a product you can be using on your site in a matter of minutes.
Developing a consistent style and tone across the entire product proved to be fun creative challenge. Blending informative UI examples with playful, airy illustrations helped to develop Smallchat’s tone of being an app that’s simple, quick to setup, and easy to use from day one.
Smallchat is used by thousands of Slack teams, handling millions of pageviews and thousands of conversations each week.
Smallchat’s dashboard needs to feel as straight-forward as its two-click signup. We keep navigation simple and mirror Slack’s layout with channel names on the left. The appearance tab features a live preview that updates as you make changes. Fast and simple. Every part of the dashboard is designed to help ease cognitive load and allow any member of the team to hop on and quickly make updates as needed.
